Together, as Cobalt associates and Cobalt dealers, we believe in looking inward to benchmark our progress towards our aspiration. We have never aimed to be the biggest boat company, just the best.
When we are motivated by goals that have profound meaning, by dreams worth realizing, by love and passion that need expressing, then we truly live life. Our Cobalt family believes we have a unique opportunity to enrich life, to help create memories for lifetime, to evoke passion for the boating lifestyle.
We have set high expectations for ourselves. Our aspiration is to design and build the very best boats. Every time we succeed our owners are treated to a tremendously rewarding ownership experience. Each new Cobalt becomes the realization of one of our boat owner's dreams. It marks the opportunity to create some of their life's best memories. Our family's craft becomes their family's dream boat! It is an awesome responsibility.
At home in Neodesha, Kansas, we're tirelessly designing and crafting the most innovative, well engineered, and best performing boats imaginable. We're boat fanatics; fanatical about reliable innovation and design; fanatical about quality, the little details, fit and finish. Leveraging over four decades of boat building experience, we enthusiastically challenge ourselves to develop boats that excite boaters and improve their boating experience. We seek out the appropriate balance between hand craftsmanship and technological advances that will deliver the most innovative, well appointed, stylish and best built boats ever.
Equally as important our dealers, our partners, recognize how important an authentic and trusting bond is to the Cobalt experience. Our dealer's perspective towards a Cobalt owner? Trust respect and responsiveness. When our customer's need us.... "Drop and run!" is the attitude and approach we strive to have every time. Our owners invest in a Cobalt for many reasons, none the least of which is trouble-free boating. In addition, we treat each customer with respect and listen to their needs. To us, the purchase and ownership process creates a friendship, a trusting relationship that serves our boat owners needs and in turn creates a customer who helps us sell more Cobalts.
Together, as Cobalt associates and Cobalt dealers, we believe in looking inward to benchmark our progress towards our aspiration. We have never aimed to be the biggest boat company, just the best. And if our actions follow our words, which in turn follow our objectives, we will together be good stewards of what Cobalt stands for. We are Cobalt...welcome to our family.
Smooth Ride
Advantages of the sterndrive boat over an inboard/V-drive boat.
Experience a smoother ride, up to 70% less fuel cost, a perfectly tuned wake, a drier ride, faster speeds. In the end, it's all about safe, enjoyable fun for everyone on board, right? Explore the many benefits you will experience on a Cobalt using the menu at left.
Trim Throughout a Versatile Range.
Cobalt's outdrive system provides the driver a versatile range of trim. Trimming down provides for an excellent hole shot and results in tremendous acceleration. Then, when you are up on plane you can trim up... lifting the boat's bow up for smooth ride and faster speeds! You cannot trim an inboard or V-drive boat. Trim your Cobalt outdrive up further when in unfamiliar or shallow waters, or when trailering your boat.
Trim Your Bow Up And Out Of Rough Water.
Performance with a Cobalt sterndrive is noticeably better than inboards/V-drives since the propeller is pushing the boat at optimum angles (for fuel efficiency, rough water ride, top-end speed, and acceleration). A Cobalt is propelled through the water by a trimmable sterndrive system which allows the driver to adjust his or her direction of thrust (both up-and-down as well as side-to-side). The ability to adjust your trim (thrust angle) provides tremendous advantages over an inboard or V-drive ski/wakeboard boat. Explore the menu selection at left to better understand why!
Deeper Deadrise: Smooth Those Rough Waves.
The shape of the boat's hull bottom is a major determinant of how smooth a boat will run through rough water. Cobalt prides itself on an extremely smooth ride, having hulls with a transom deadrise (at the back end of the boat) of up to 21 degrees, while the deadrise of most inboard ski/wakeboard boats today is approximately 4 degrees at the keel. Take a ride on both types of boats on a choppy day out on the lake and you'll be amazed at the difference!
More Fuel Efficient Operation
Wasted Thrust Wastes Money.
Since you can trim a Cobalt's propellers, you get all of your thrust propelling you in the right direction. Most inboard propellers are stuck pointing about 13 degrees down, even though the boat moves parallel across the water. The inboard's fixed downward thrust angle constantly force the bow down. The result: a rougher ride, plus wasted thrust, efficiency, and money.
Reduce Resistance By Trimming Your Boat Up.
Spend less money in fuel to operate your boat. Trimming your Cobalt up brings the bow up and out of the water, reducing resistance. The result: your boat moves through the water more efficiently and cost-effectively. You cannot trim an inboard or V-drive ski/wakeboard boat.
Watersports, Without the Sacrifice
Two Propellers are Better Than One.
Even the best propellers are only 80% efficient. Equipping a Cobalt with two propellers on a single outdrive significantly improves efficiency, hole shot and steering torque. What's more, the two propellers on a Cobalt spin in opposite directions, removing any torque at the helm, and simplifying docking your boat. Inboard and V-Drive ski/wakeboard boats only offer one propeller.
Higher Off the Water and a Drier Ride.
A Cobalt is approximately 25% taller than the typical inboard or V-drive wakeboard boats today. This results in a drier ride and a more commanding perspective out there in rough water!
Great Wakeboard Wakes
A Cobalt's deeper deadrise, extended hull running surface and weight distribution inherently create an excellent, crisp wake for wakeboarding. Our trimmable sterndrive and GPS-controlled cruise control systems allow you to fine tune the perfect wake time after time for any skill level.
Low Bowrise Equals Quick and Safe Hole Shots.
At Cobalt, we pride ourselves in hull designs that provide full visibility from the helm during a hull shot acceleration. While uncommon amongst sterndrives in general, both the boat driver and skier will appreciate fast, safe hole shots inherent in a Cobalt. Our extended running surface acts as an integrated trim tab lifting the aft portion and lowering the bow portion of the Cobalt.
Faster Speed
Go Faster!
A Cobalt is faster than a typical inboard or V-drive ski/wakeboard boat (with equivalent boat and engine size). When you can trim your boat up and out of the water, you direct your propeller's thrust in the optimal direction for speed and fuel economy.
Shallower Draft When You Need It
Avoid Propeller Damage.
When approaching shallow or unfamiliar waters, you can trim a Cobalt's outdrive up approximately 6-7 inches shallower than the typical inboard or V-drive ski/wakeboard propeller. In addition, Cobalt's skeg protection will offer protection to your propeller, whereas the propeller is much more vulnerable on an inboard/V-drive boat.
Powertrain Warranty
Cobalt Provides 5 Years of Protection
We have built our reputation with over 40 years of engineering the most realiable boats on the water today. We stand behind our propulsion system for a full 5 years. Some of the most prominent inboard/V-drive builders only provide 3 years.
